and for terrain, I've always wanted bases that had 28 mm high detail footprints, basically the footprints on a flat base that I can add to with grit and what not.

I was hoping for a player character that is a tiefling wearing a tricorn and a highwayman's jacket with slits in the back for wings. The shirt is a bit frilly kind of gothic/victorian, two fingerless gauntlets with embroidery on the sides maybe with a skull or symbol in the wrist portion of the gloves. Long boots about shin high with three straps again with some sort of embroidery.

Glad to see that small scale is most certainly doable in a Dm situation, was tinkering with the idea but wasn't fully sure on how I would do it, now i'm enlightened, GG!

Personally I feel sculpey is amazing for bases, you can mold it into any shape, for either hill or mound type terrain to even a textured flat city tile base. Plus it's got a good weight to it, but not too heavy, like a coin or washer.

I usually go to thrift stores like goodwill or saving grace, just saying that gold is usually found in these types of locations.

i love regular black bases... yes textured minis bases are cooler, yes they are awesome and make the minis awesomeer... but there is one fatal flaw in their design reguardless of how cool you make them... its that your bases will always be looking weird on your tiles. just because your bases do not change style like the tiles do. unless you start changing bases on your minis everytime they pass over a new tile. this is why i preffer generic black bases. its just easier for me to just ignore the base and make it as if it wasn't there, then try and imagine that my panda is rolling on bamboo instead of walking in a regular stone dungeon. but if only we could have transparent bases, that would be the best for me i guess, that way my bases would be changing with the floor. I agree transparent bases would be awesome.

I actually get shrimp buckets my work that are hard plastic. we usually get freshly cooked shrimp in them and then either throw the containers away or recycle them luckily my bosses allow me to clean them and take them home, which I store my clump foliage and paint in.

Looks great, gotta recommend a dark primer though. I use citadel chaos black primer and it really makes my miniatures details pop! Brushes are like knives, each one has it's own purpose and can be lethal in the right hands, don't mess with DM Scotty!!!!!

I'll have to get one up in the afternoon, still needs another run through the grinder, looking good so far, kind of like wood dust so far, even with the clumpy bits of shavings left over.

Depends, I have some miniatures that are really small compared to my 28-30 mm minis, so I just classify them as subhuman races or even hobbit sized. Guess it's all in how you want Rplay it.

I've only so far been able to make miniature bases out of polymer clay, which has been pretty fun.

Is that moss you're using, so glad if it is, I use it all the time with my tiles. Bought a cheap yet heavy duty food processor for creating really small bits of texture, still need a sifter though....That reminds me, I gotta go grind up some wood shavings!

I'm curious, do you use a mixture of organic and synthetic materials to get these pieces you've made? If so, bravo! In not, Holy cow and more bravo!
