quick shot with my phone. I am happy with it. It is ok, I will say its a little grainy and the smaller font which is readable on the compressed raw image, of 266.4 MB 16 million colors reduced to 19.7 MG 256 color. Banner image was 3609x 3384 256 color. 19.7 MB. is readable, but no so on this banner, came out way to pixelated. The larger font for the Oceans 36 font and World name 72 font are readable. The smaller fonts are 14 & 12 cannot be read. If I had it to do again, I would make the standard font 36 or more and the largest text 72 - 128 font. I just wanted to see my world hanging on the wall. I can do that!
Note I will try to get a few better pics for you peeps. You can see the individual hex's however.
Well I was going to add some more pics, but it says that I cannot upload over 1 MB?

Ijust bought a 3x3 map of death star terrain for star wars x-wing miniatures game from them. I have to admit mine is little grainy as well, but its good enough for my x-wing gameplay. Not sure if anyone here plays X-wing miniatures but heres a neat vid of a guy that paints his own gameboards.

Love the game and pieces. we play with a few added house rules too (blowup if u run into an asteroid for smaller ships, etc. )

Wow! Now I have start saving money for this, too. I mean the banners, not the Star Wars board. That is very impressive though and gives me an idea for a fantasy terrain mat... I have to think about it some more.

totally getting one of these for my campaign setting. Its gonna go up on the wall and only be used to outline important current events that the players know about. (kinda like quest markers) Then I will probably somehow incorporate a giant map on the wall in every description of a room I ever run EVER again. lol

Holy Cow!!! There is no end to how these maps can be used....you can go to Google earth take a shot of any historical battle field blow it up to what ever scale you want, then do an over lay of the topography and walla... instant (and correct) map of any battlefield in the world. The buildings might change a bit but at least you could get the terrain right.....you guys are genius's... absolutely brilliant. That is one the very best ideas that I have heard or seen. Thank you for solving a problem that I have been trying to figure out for life (or at least since I have been gaming since the 70's)

Pictures, please!!!

Back in the 90's, a fellow took a wall paper world map (around $80 back then), which he picked up on clearance, for around $8(!), and ran a ginormous Risk(R) game with it. He then trashed it, because he paid so very little... I've always wanted to do a giant Risk(R) game, ever since. This makes it feasible. I have a Ping Pong Table, for gaming, 9' x 5'. This would make it all feasible. Michael's has loads of wooden pieces, which I could paint up for army tokens... It's all coming together. I also have a city map which is my home base for the campaign. To have a 3' x 5' map of this city would be awesome to game with. At the prices posted, this is absolutely affordable. I have a world map, hand drawn, but I've made some effort to re-create it on the PC, so this may just encourage me to finish the re-creation project. Thanks for sharing!!! Cheers! I was just thinking the same thing!! Back in the day, a friend and I drew the 'real' world up on a piece of posterboard...cramming in as many countries as we could..as you can imagine, you couldn't fit more than one army on many of them...This would be fantastic.. I collect old Risk games from thrift stores and such, purely for the playing pieces..particularly the napoleonics that they made for a time.. I had intended on reproducing a 'risk' map I saw on an online Risk game site..(where you played risk type games on various maps)... This could make that possible.... Thanks

Gerneralketchup57, I just looked on Ebay and there is one boxed set of the 1983 World of Greyhawk that has a hodge podge of other items in it (modules X5, A4 and D3) but it says it has two maps, which are the two maps of the world. I have this boxed set (and one from even earlier) and the maps are cool. This Ebay offering seems to be pretty good at about $16 (most bids I've seen when I checked on Ebay and Amazon are around $50 minimum. This one may be what you are looking for. www.ebay.com/itm/TSR-Advanced-Dungeons-Dragons-World-of-Greyhawk-1983-/281804702802?hash=item419cde8452

Unfortunately those images aren't even close to the resolution needed for 3'x5' or 36"x60". You could print an 8"x10" image off that 1600x1024 image and it might look acceptable for your purposes but it would definitely be soft. At 3'x5' its going to be a blurry mess. They will look great on a computer screen but aren't made for print. Best case scenario would be if someone took the time to vectorize the World of Greyhawk map, then you could scale it as needed.
