Now that I got my hands on another box of old photo slides I can pick up my space station build again. My plan is to build a set of different sized rooms and place them on a board with the same flooring as the rooms so that the open spaces form the corridors. I decided on three different sizes of rooms and plan to make enough to fill a 3x3 foot table. Construction is easy, just glue the slides together to form the walls.Use them upright for basic wall panels and windows, put them on their side and cut out the bottom part for the doors. I also put metal plates in the panels that don't have windows or doors so I can use magnets to attach or remove diffent greeblies like airducts, junction boxes and computer screens. Here's what I have so far. The connecting walls will be fitted with hooks on top so I can hang them between rooms as needed. Here's a more or less finished room I realise there's not much, if any, scifi builds on this forum but I thought you guy's might like it, if not just tell me and I'll stop it.

I've been toying with the idea of a space campaign. I'd like to do a "goblin campaign" where they stow away on an alien vessel, and get brought back to a mother-ship somewhere, where they cause havoc and mayhem. This has given me idea on how this could happen.

Very nice, though those photo slides must be getting pretty rare these days... future scenes made from retro tech.. I love the ironic twist to it.

Very clever! Great use of the slides and especially the magnetization and the flexibility that gives for detail. Truly futuristic, nice.

Very cool idea. How hard is it to find slide frames like that these days?

As the others above said: Awesome idea! Gives us another bolt in the quiver. My guess is that slides should be easily found on ebay or in 2nd hand stores, but so far I have never looked for them.

I don't think the forum cares (just my personal observation) about genre. Future/space seems like a cool way to go. Please tell me more about the robot in the pic above. What line is he from?

Amazing stuff! Love the re-purposed photo-slides -- brilliant!
chiefsgtbradly, the gridded stuff is known by various names ('granny grate' is one name I've seen), but it can be found at Hobby Lobby, Michael's, and such. It is used for weaving yarn through, to make stuff. Try printing a photo of it, and take that to your local craft store; ask the staff what it is, and where you can find it. Cheers!

Thanks for all the positive responses. @ wilmanric the robot is from Urban War a 28mm skirmish game by Urban Mammoth. You can check them out here www.urbanwarthegame.com/news.php@ chiefsgtbradly the grating is for cross stiching you can find it in most hobby stores. Now that I know scifi is ok I'll post some pictures of my progress soon.

Just playing around with what I've (half)finished so far. Furniture and flatscreens by Antenocitis Workshop the rest is scrach built all greeblees are magnetised and removable. Hey Ed, you see anything? No man, someone should like, really wash these windows or something! ps: don't mind the attack of the 5 year old gargantuan, no minis were harmed during filming and it's a pretty sturdy build.
