Fill them with green or yellow liquid and float something in them for a mad mage Laboratory

oh oh a gas trap, put puffed up cotton ball in there, then if a fig fits you could teleport them into it and then the other players have to get them out

Perhaps make an entire adventure inside of a Mad Wizard's lab? The tubes hand hold different "liquids", monsters, and perhaps even some stuff from the elemental chaos or something.

well, the obvious might be obelisks for a fertility cult.. they are popular in sci fi for cryotubes..

As full size props they would work great. For crafting...they could be cryotubes as others have said. Parts to some machine of arcane origin. The main structure for a submersible.
Hmm the problem is their size. Too large really to do anything for crafting, except as an obelisk. And thats a bit of an issue, given its shape.

not really an issue. Every culture has fertility cults.

not really an issue. Every culture has fertility cults. True. But it depends more on the maturity of your gaming group and less on whether your fantasy culture has a fertility cult. My gaming group would laugh uncontrollably if I dropped a "fertility obelisk" on the table. It would be hard to return to any meaningful gaming, at least not without hearing numerous jokes along those lines for the remainder of the night.

Hmmm... I'm thinking, cut the ends off, texture with hot glue, paint with translucent spell effects.... columns of flame? ice?

I'm with @aj. Rayguns! I'd say maybe use a few to craft for the gaming table but the lions share use to create wild and wonderful ray guns or other steampunk-ish accessories. You might even consider shopping some out to Etsy and making a few bucks.
Cheers, MM

Apply heat. Melt, twist. Old oak tree. You can burn holes into them for missing branches, knots and stuff. The hot glue on twigs.

Texture them a bit, paint them up lightly, insert a small LED* into the bottom and you have lighted (= magic) columns. * use either the flickering LEDs or the ones cycling through different colors for special effects
