In 2 weeks my D&D group returns to my house for our weekly game for the first time in over a year. I took a much needed break and now we are returning without a few old players plus a few new players, some of them haven't played D&D in 25+ years. I really love the new Waterdeep: Dragonheist hardcover as well as the first episode of Season 8 of Adventurers League. I don't play AL but the Waterdeep adventures are made to run along side the hardcover so it adds a lot of content. I also have a lot of homebrew city encounters to add and eventually we will move into Undermountain. Since the campaign starts in The Yawning Portal as well as the first AL adventure, I decided I wanted to make a Yawning Portal set piece.
This is still a work in progress. The main tavern is laid out but I need to paint everything that is inside of it right now. Everything shown here was hand crafted or 3d printed by me. The main tavern has a dollar store foam grid affixed to 1/8" MDF for stability. The walls are pink foam and craft sticks. Instead of craft paints I decided to get a quart of Valspar Duramax exterior paint for my Tudor style buildings. For the price and coverage I don't think you can beat it. I rolled the pink foam with a foil ball for the texture. I still have to print the 5 pillars that surround the portal as well as the pully to get in and out of the dungeon. I also still have a lot of tables and people to populate the inn with since it's extremely popular and busy all the time. I still have to flesh out the storage rooms behind the bar also, but I am happy with how it's turning out. At some point soon I am going to work on the 2nd level rooms and balcony that overlook the portal.
