Got the $1 pack of oversized skeletons from Dollar General that indigo777 posted in the Scale Comparison thread. and There were 8 poses in 10 figures. I wanted to share some conversion ideas. Unpainted figure compared to D&D Swordmage Painted Giant skeleton on reused Heroclix base Ettin skeleton, took head and neck off figure with raised sword and attached to figure with pole arm.
Tomb Guardian, took right arm with raised sword and attached to figure with raised fist, got left arm and shield from another figure. Bone devil, got tentacle from HeroClix figure to use as tail, but wire would work, blob of glue for venom sac. I also took leftover pieces to make a bone pile/corpse marker. Not spectacular, but they work for me. The figures do not take paint or glue well.

I painted the non-bone portions, with 2-3 coats of acrylic paint, then I applies The Dip. The Dip seals the paint with a urethane coating. It will last around 10 years before it flakes off, based on prior experience with painting plastic Army Men figures. Another option is to purchase Paint for Plastic brand of acrylic paints, to use on such figures. It is a bit more expensive, available at Michaels Craft Stores. It tends to be thick, and I don't think thinning it will be a good idea. I searched Amazon.com for Paint for Plastic brand, without finding it, but I did find other options: link. Anyway, these are some options to try. Love the conversions! May need to give that a try! Cheers!

Thanks for the feedback. I plan on using them gingerly, so I think I will be okay. If not, I can rebuild them.

They look great, Sam . Very nice work, especially with the bases -- great job of hiding the molded bases! You can never have too many Skeletons... I've used E6000 Glue with these. It seems to hold well when applied to their bases, to adhere them to MDF. I have not tried making conversions yet, however. Cheers!

Thanks. I used E6000 for the first time, on these. I am quite pleased with its performance. It has become my glue of choice. It seems to hold very well, and sets up fairly quickly. And, I did not glue my fingers together.

LOL! I thought the same thing when I bought my set... I figured it was comic relief. It reminds me of Army of Darkness' big battle scene. Cheers!

I have never read it, but it sounds interesting.
Also, with the horn, I thought about clipping the top off and making it a pipe. May yet do that with one of them.
