Hi everyone, I've recently given back a number of ogre figurines to their rightful owner, but I obviously need them for encounters. I've found a couple official ogre minis that I like, but they're a bit pricey. Does anyone know a good cheap alternative? I can do some mods, but I'm not great at sculpting.

Reaper have a number of ogres in their bones series; www.reapermini.com/Miniatures/Ogreofcourse "cheap" is a relative figure - but outside of finding some cheap chinese plastic toys ala army men I think this may be the cheapest option

You can sometimes find the Marvel "Handful of Heroes" blind bags in dollar stores and other places of the type, there are several minis of Hulk in those that work great for ogres. Several also armored ones. Just add weapons if you want them and they paint up great.

Check out these toy figures: Amazon. The price is nice. Here is a review of them, from a gamer's perspective: link. The "Ogre" figures ( link to photo) are about 50mm tall. Maybe you can make use out of the other figures in the set, as well? Cheers!

I have purchased, painted and used the ogre minis from Reaper, they are great, so i'll second them as above!

Check out world of Warcraft miniatures there is a nice ogre "boulderfist warrior", I picked one up for a different game, but if the horn on his head was shaved off would be perfect. Otherwise okumarts has some great paper minis

Forgot to mention, I use Mage Knight Krug figures for Ogres. They may not be by the book, but they work. They used to be readily available, for low prices. Not sure now. They've been OOP for a number of years. Still, worth a look. I bought a bunch for use in my mass battles, 2e BattleSystem games. I even found them mounted on Yaks! I visited a farm with Yaks, a couple of years ago: they are 800 lbs. dogs! They nudged me, practically bowling me over, when I stopped petting them, because they wanted more... I laugh out loud every time I see some figure mounted on a Yak (ginormous dog)! Anyway, the Yak-mounted Krug's make excellent 'Heavy Ogre Cavalry' figures, in case you have a desire for such. They're tough in my BattleSystem games, and a challenge for their opponents' cavalry -- so long as I don't fall over laughing about the spectacle before me... Cheers!

Cool! Great looking suggestions, guys. I'll keep a look out for both of those. Never know where minis might pop up. I found some Ral Partha minis in a cheapo second hand store a while ago. They were standing next to the crystal wizards, and I was like, hey, that's a halfling.
I did buy some of the reaper ogres for now, but I'm sure I'll need more. It's always good to have a few different styles, too. In case you need to use the mini for an Ogrillon or something else oddball.
