Hi. I picked up some minis on an online auction, but do not know what they are. I think they are old Warhammer 40K figures. Some of the bases are labeled 1992 G.W. Sorry about the bad pics. I took them in a rush. These are plastic and I am fairly sure they are Tyranids - These are also plastic. They are a hound like creature with a head like the thing from "Alien" - These are also plastic, some in parts - These are metal, mostly in parts, looks like two types - These are also metal, I think they are genestealers - These are also metal, I think these a space marines - These are also metal and look sort of like floating cabbages - This is the last one. They are metal and are a flying bat like creature - I do not play 40K. Any help to identify these is appreciated.

The 'floating cabbages' are warhammer 40K Spore Mines, if I'm not mistaken.

Quite right. The first two pictures (looks like one is a doublepost) are tyranid genestealers, possibly models from the Space Crusade board game based on the sculpt, but I cant be sure. Third pic are the original tyranid models released by Games Workshop, as are the ones in the 4th pic. I'm not sure what specific units they are though sorry. 5th pic, I'm not positive on, but I think they might be more genestealer variants 6th pic, are Imperial Guard Kasrkin Stormtroopers with hotshot lasguns and an Officer 7th pic, are tyranid spore mines as Tauster said I think the models in the last pic are old style Tyranid Gargoyles. I hope that helps

I evidently have parts for a Carnifex, a Biovore, a Zoanthrope and a Hive Tyrant. How many pieces make up an army? I will have to do more research on the board game.

insert code here Thanks guys. I found a good website with pictures - wh40k.lexicanum.com/wiki/Miniatures_(Tyranids)#2nd_Edition. Most of what I have are 1st and 2nd edition. The spore mines I have do not look like any of the pics I've seen. Still not sure where the plastic figures are from, maybe 'Tyranid Attacks' supplement.

The plastic minis in the third pic are from an old GW board game, Tyranid Attack from teh early 90's.
The game featured squads of space marine scouts exploring a Tyranid living space ship, with cards to determine discoveries etc. The plastic tyranids (and some genestealers) were the opposition.
Hope this helps.
