Hey folks. I've been making more minis lately, and I thought perhaps I should make a thread here, rather than clutter up the General Crafting forum with a bunch of threads. I was inspired by the work of a few other members for this piece, a displacer beast. I know the head is a little too big, but other than that, I'm pretty happy with it. He has a paper clip and aluminum foil armature, a Sculpey body, and toothpick teeth. Here's one of the PCs in my upcoming campaign, an elven fighter. 24 gauge wire armature, Sculpey, 1" wood circle base. The zoom really shows my limitations in sculpting tiny details, but I think she looks pretty good at arm's length. And one more for size comparison...

Wow, stelmaria ! I can't wait to see this beholder finished! How did you manage to get the eye so smooth and rounded just by using hot glue?!

If you're doing more human figures, you might want to look into some of the sculpting dollies, they tend to make things a whole lot easier for maintaining proportions.

Wow, stelmaria ! I can't wait to see this beholder finished! How did you manage to get the eye so smooth and rounded just by using hot glue?! I started by forming a disc of hot glue on parchment paper, and when it dried I used the nozzle of the glue gun to shape it into more of a bowl shape.
