I bought myself a 3D printer at Christmas and it's been running almost 24/7 since then. Finally I've had some time to paint some of the models I've printed. Full details including print settings and where the files came from are on my site here: www.matakishi.net/3d-printing.htmlCave lurkers, designed for 15mm but work for 28mm Stone Apes of Knuum. Unlike the cave lurkers which I painted properly to disguise the layers I drybrushed these as they're meant to be living rock and I wanted the texture. Treasure chests. More to come! www.matakishi.net/3d-printing.html

I think they are really nice too, but I will probably never get one. I can get a lot of other gaming stuff for what I would spend on a 3D printer. matakishi - This stuff is nice. I particularly like the cave lurkers, too.

I am actually saving a lot of money printing out stuff for around the house, for electronics projects, replacement parts for various things electronic and not. So many cool little toys you can print and give as christmas gifts. Ever loook on thingiverse.com. Just browse it to see what's available ? e.g. a ittle customizable jig I made for cheap $25 harbor freight router, for making perfectly round holes in speaker cabinets. If I recall correctly, a general tool for this costs like $40 and requires specific routers I didn't have.. expensive routers.. This cost me like 50 cents to print and it works on a $25 router. Saved over $100 here with this one jig.

Yeah, since buying and assembling and firing up the 3D printer, it's become clear that my cardboard crafting is just going to be for specific things, such as large terrain set pieces and structures.. plus nothing beats my cave scatter terrain using good old polystyrene, cardboard and hot glue.. I have gotten so much use out of that stuff, it is super versatile. I don't see myself printing out an entire town, but a street with a tavern, shop, warehouse, house and guard station would pretty much cover anything I'd need for town adventures.. oh, and a short section of sewers with one larger area. I am loving those rock apes btw matakishi!

I agree, nice paint job, subtle but definitive. I also like the tree on the right. Does it have a level spot up in the canopy?

A couple of boats, also for my pirates. No miniatures for scale but the large one is over 20cm (8 inches) long. I added some PVC tube and magnets to the mast fitting so I can take the masts off for easy storage (and change the sail position if the wind changes).

Gossip stones. Very useful for giving players snippets of background information without having to have some NPC drone on and on. Privy and a kennel. Both useful in any number of situations. Clockwork door and clockwork turrets to guard it Giant toads

Gossip stones are recurring items in the Zelda games.

Some great stuff! I really like the Stone Apes of Knuum they are awesome, when I first looked at them I thought they were just scatter terrain like rocks and then realized what I was looking at, awesome!

Currently printing a massive, resized cave lurker, should be about 20ft tall by 28mm scale standards. Love those clockwork items!

That'll be interesting to see. I've recently printed a giant stone ape on my new printer, he's 80mm tall in his crouched position. I'll have him painted soon and I can show him off. The clockwork door is a pair of 'steampunk coasters'. Even 3D plans can be re-purposed

I'll have some more painted stuff in a day or so. In the mean time here's this week's haul on the painting table (including my BIG stone ape of Knuum).
