I have fallen behind this week on the progress. I really wanted to get started with Fusion 360 myself also but too much keeps coming up. Between dying eggs with the kids, hopefully replacing my brakes on my truck, dinner with the family.....I need another vacation just to get my geek on Anyways great job guys, the stuff you guys have been pumping out looks great.

Well it's gonna be another day before I have those tiles ready. I keep getting busy. Feel free to do them if you like. After seeing Curufin's and Darkness skills lately, I am sure they could probably whip them out in a couple hours heh. All dimensions and other notes are well documented in this thread. Should be easy to throw together. dont rush yourself none of us are on time tables thats the fun of crafting no deadlines no worries

I printed out a few test 2.0 bases. All of them have issues as I am still calibrating my machine, but the extra real estate is very nice. About +1 meter of filament to upscale 25%. Cheers

Protypes are done! I also have a small stack of frames (some warping issues) and I will soon have them topped, so the crystal castle floor will be a reality. I still need help with the wall tile, but that is not up yet.

I stumbled across this on Thingiverse, and it looks like you are doing a great job. I'm building a 3d printer, and just finished correct x-y-z movement. Hopefully, the printhead installation has been done correctly - that's up next for verification and testing. Anyway, I stated a couple of months ago using OpenSCAD to model my own Wyloch style tiles. If I ever get my printer working, I'll need to see if these print well. Here are a few images of the models, the OpenSCAD files are built with parameters so I can tweak the dimensions and wall placement.

Yeah I like OpenSCAD. But I need to add texture to those tiles, and blender does a great job.
Btw, I haven't forgotten about these tiles, I'll get to them soon. I have been a bit busy. Also, I haven't been feeling very well the past few days -- trying to take it easy and recover. Once I get better I am sure I'll get the tiles done in no time.

I have made 8 floor pieces so far, they are my "alpha" versions as I am still dialing in the machine and the settings for these tiles. The alpha versions link well on a flat space, but do not stack as well as I like. They are both too heavy (too much fliament) and the magnets end up being too far apart for a strong link (the magnets are pretty strong too). So the beta versions will be printed with less filament to see if the 25% upscale can be overcome. I really want linkable, stackable tiles! My beta settings are 0.3 layers, 0.4 walls, 0.6 tops and bottoms (maybe bump up to 0.9), and 5% infil. I have printed a few tops at these settings and they are strong enough I think. But I need to have a few complete tiles to really give em a test. Cheers! Edit: Again, I scaled x and y up to 1.25 but left z at 1.

Those look great Is it possible to have the brick texture on both sides? GUessing that'd be a lot of work though.

Guys I know I started this thread and all. And I had a lot of ambition at the time. But I haven't been feeling that well -- I need to focus on my health and need to take a break from crafting altogether. I think I am going to box up all the stuff I've created in the past three months and come back to it later on -- maybe in six months or so.
I've really enjoyed learning from you all and sharing with you stuff I crafted since late December.
To be honest right after I received the "25mm" miniatures from the UK -- the sets from various sprues -- I saw how small they were and how oversized most of my terrain was. They are so much smaller than reaper. And they are so tiny to paint and well I've created all this terrain that just seems too big. It's a bit depressing and my health isn't that good right now anyways. So I just need a break from it all. I'll focus on some other area of interest right now like electronics or something.
It's been great, thanks.
Maybe Dante3rd can work his 3D models in to meet the requirements we set forth in this thread and get them up on Thingiverse for this project. Again, I"m sorry I didn't get around to making them.

I am so sorry to hear you are not well. You have been a stimulating presence on this forum the last few months and I will miss you. Hope to hear from you again in 6 months - or maybe sooner!
Lots of folks play with somewhat oversized props for 25mm because getting really close to that scale means working awfully small. I do try to plan my stuff relatively small, because I have mostly old 25mm figures. My earliest experience was with accurately scaled dollhouse miniatures and scale differences tweak me more than most. But even so, a lot of props are at least somewhat oversized. And your things are too gorgeous not to use.

Larger stuff is great with smaller figs. It makes everything even more fantastic. I can share the concern with painting small, it is a wonder how some of that stuff is painted.

You use mental ray or scanline?

You use mental ray or scanline? I'm using Keyshot for the rendering. You can quickly take a look at any model regardless of polycount inside Keyshot with realtime rendering. Keyshot just doesn't do so well with interior lighting. I really like your intro animation you do each season. You really nailed the Myst and Journeyman Project feel. I'm guessing you're in the video game industry? I'm finishing my degree in the next couple of weeks in 3D Animation, and I was thinking of doing some tutorials for Youtube. Its hard to get into the CG industry, and I'm not so great with coding. I mostly specialized in modeling and rendering. I'll' be honest though I've always have a hard time with lighting with Mental Ray. This is using Mental Ray's Sun and Sky.

Those look great dante3rd . Are you uploading those somewhere? I'm not sure exactly where to upload them to yet. I'm going to upload the files tomorrow to my GDrive when I get to school. My interent at my house isn't so great. The polycount on the models are a little high, so the obj files range between 52 MB and 188 MB. I can send a link to someone's email to my GDrive files if that will work out.

You can use that to drop stuff if you want. I would also recommend thingiverse if you want to release them publicly. PM me your email and I will add you to the dropbox folder.
