Scroll Shelves
I have a vast library to build -- about 36 bookshelves. Of these 36, I want about a third of them to be "Scroll Shelves". Using google image, I saw some cool photos of scroll storage on shelves. Scrolls were stored in cubbies--both rectangular and diamond. I decided to make some rectangular cubbies with a simple modification to my existing bookshelf design, by just adding a few pieces of popsicle sticks as separators. Here is a photo of it on the right. (I have to finish the paint job on the scroll shelf -- all my shelves will look like the one on to the front left.) I'm extremely pleased with the result. It will make my library more interesting than just all books and scattered scrolls. I intend on designing/sculpting a diamond cubbie scroll shelf in sketchup/blender and sharing it on thingiverse. It will use the same wood grain texture I use in my tavern tiles (which I also shared on thingiverse). The diamond cubbie scroll shelf will be designed to be the very same dimensions as my existing bookshelves as shown -- but one can easily scale the x,y,z dimensions to their liking w/ their printer software.

Diamond Cubby Scroll ShelfAs I promised, here is the scroll case (with diamond shaped cubbies), that I designed in blender and printed. Gonna work out a couple small details on it and then make the STL available for download on thingiverse. Going to print six of these diamond ones, and craft 6 of the rectangular cubby ones. Lots of scrolls to craft! EDIT: this shelf could also be used as a wine rack.

All these books and scrolls I am crafting I could easily make a construct with them, for Frostgrave. e.g. Book Golem by Black Cat Bases (unlike this photo, I'd probably use the ends of two scrolls for the eyes!)

Book & Scroll Shelf Set
I am tired of crafting bookcases. I hand crafted about a dozen with popsicle sticks. GOnna print the remaining 24 on my 3D printer.
Therefore, I'll be 3D sculpting all three book & scroll shelves in Blender and releasing them as a matching set, for download on thingiverse.
There will be a book case, rectangular cubby scroll shelf, and a diamond cubby scroll rack.
By default, all will have identical outer dimensions, and be compatible with popsicle stick shelves crafted by hand. You can rescale any of the x,y,z axis to your liking for custom shelving.
EDIT: btw, what's nice about printing these is they don't use much filament. Probably like 15 cents worth at most per print? I printed at .1 layers and it took around 1 1/2 hours if I recall.

Scroll Rack -- Printed, Painted & Packed
Painted it and dry brushed it like I do my tavern tiles. So you can see the woodgrain texture. What do you think? Maybe I should only print the scroll racks and hand craft the bookcases & scroll shelves? The front of the board is flat where the popsicle sticks are rounded. (Case on left is finished off with Americana Cocoa dry brush highlights, whereas case on right is finished off with Americana Golden Honey.. I like the one on the left better I think.. less red.. what do you think?)

Very nice, your crafting is great but i have to say your photos make it for me, very nice quality Nikon D7000 w/ 35MM lens. Hot Shoe flash pointed at ceiling reflecting light back down -- makes for a very big soft light

(unlike this photo, I'd probably use the ends of two scrolls for the eyes!) That would make him look like Wall-E...

Excellent! Love these, especially the diamond shelves. I love the inspiration photos you found too. Also, I thought a golem constructed of books and scrolls was called a wizard

Finally a photo of the set of all three styles of library shelves, fully painted and loaded. Which style scroll case do you like better? Diamond or square? For some variety, I was thinking about having both styles in the library in various locations. Should I do that or just stick with one style?

I really like both styles of shelves and think that you should use them both rather than choose just one!

Only thing though is that you can tell the ones I made. They kinda have big holes in the middle (me being a noob) but still looks great anyways!
