Wow thanks for this! The shingles will be perfect! I was worried about how raised up the road peices were going to be but this is amazing.

Of course! It looked really, really cool... especially with the stripping painted on it and such.
I believe that the shingles are pretty easy to cut and that you can even tear them once a cut is started, if you wanted to get a broken and jagged look. And for sections that have become uneven and raised above the areas around them, you should be able to put cardboard "shims" underneath those parts. Likewise, make sure to put in a few sinkholes! A black drybrushing after you paint road stripes on should age it and make it look a little more worn as well.
I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with this, Noctuary!

Found this useful PDF file here for making roads with shingles, also showing pot holes and scale sizes. Roads
A co worker of mine has some new shingles I can pick up for free after work today, a friend of mine is dropping off some old hot wheels cars, and I'm picking up some foam board to make some building. Busy weekend!

Very awesome! I'm excited to see the results. I was trying to find a way to make some vault doors but this looks great! Can't wait @rouseau!

This will be the first encounter where all the players meet up. I found these boards that are about 2 foot by 1.5 feet. I think when I paint them up they will be great modular floors for smaller building. This warehouse will look great with some shelves and all these crates for a gun fight.

Something else that I have toyed with and will be trying once I find a reason to make them:
Gas tanks (like the standing kind for welding, etc.)... made from the plastic part of a sharpie that holds the felt tip, the piece that indicates the color. Not sure how easy they will be to remove, but with some beads or something to form a nozzle on the top... players should have something to shoot at ro go boom!

Funny you should mention that - today I was looking at spent co2 cases for BB guns, wondering if they were too big for similar things

They might be, but just by a bit... more in circumference than length (I think). I think the big issue with those will be the rounded bottoms.

Paint them all rusted up and throw a flamable sticker on there.

Now, I'm just doing this in my head, from memory of the dimensions, mind you.
But I think that those WOULD probably work really well as those external propane tanks that some people have outside of their houses for heating.

DMScotty has a great video about ruined walls!
However, concrete should look a little different (at least on the broken edges). Maybe stick with just using larger rocks or chunks of foam/cardboard still attached with rebar - of which you definitely want to include! Spray texture on the pieces themselves would work for rougher concrete, but some concrete (especially when used for interior walls) are actually pretty smooth. You might want to add "seams"... either by actually cutting a line or just painting it on.
I would look at pictures from the web of ruined buildings and whatnot - Detriot or Gary (as has been showcased here before).

Trying to get an aged concrete look, any suggestions? If you have the time to do it, and a disposable brush (The cheap brushes similar to the kids watercolor paint packs that you can get a dozen for a buck at walmart work) get some plaster of your favorite type (Plaster of Paris actually works here if you want it, as does watering down the patch plaster). You want it to be a bit thicker than you normally would want your paint. Brush it on. If you're using a LOT of it, such as seems here, put a drop of brown and black paint in for each plastic cups worth when mixing it up, the end result looks a lot like cement and is extremely cheap. Once it finishes drying, give it a light sand and then take a 50/50 mix of white glue and water to give it a coat to seal it up for easier painting and a bit of protection from accidents in moving it.

OK crafters I need some help finding some retro robot minis, rad suit soldiers, and mutants on the cheap. I'm probably going to go with some rebased hero clix mutants but other than that I can't seem to find any good leads. Seeing if you guys got any good links? Also has anyone used the hirst arts sci fi molds?

So here are a couple of sites I found. The hydra minis aren't exactly cheap but they seemed retro enough. Germy has a tutorial on making his pulpy robot on the cheap. Germy Hydra miniatures
