Toys R Us is clearancing out the Marvel Handful of Heroes line of small figures. The packs come with 8 figures for $2.50 currently. The scale is about 2x that of D&D miniatures which makes them great for Large humanoids and monsters. Best of all they aren't blind bagged you can actually see what you are buying. The sculpts and plastic quality on these is amazing which is probably why they originally ran 7 bucks. I looked through the packs and picked up a couple packs that had a lot of Hulks and robots in them to convert to D&D Minis. The Hulks make great Ogres. The bearded one could make a great enlarged duergar dwarf as well. And here's an Onslaught painted into a Golem. Also picked up a giant spider for a dollar in the Nature world line of giant plastic bugs and reptiles. I've seen this line at both Toys'R'Us and Dollar Generals. The sculpt is great and the plastic quality is a nice solid plastic resin that paints up great yet remains flexible so no chance of breaking any of the legs. If you want a boss monster for a spider or drow dungeon its perfect. One of my players spotted it near my miniatures and is now paranoid anytime I mention webs or spiders passingly in a dungeon.

Nice. When the movie came out my daughter gave me a "gag gift" of a bucket of dragons. I turned them all into medium or large sized dragons for game play. Was a great deal. I'll check our Target out to see if I can find some of these. From the Bucket o dragons, these were ones I made some front legs out of green stuff and then painted: And these had a bit more customization:

Some great ideas here. The Kronox toy came out really nice after the repaint and basing. Where can you find those?

Found some cheap toys to convert to miniatures today at Toys'R'Us in their clearance blowout. First up a Gormiti Murena Den playset for $2.09 regularly $15.99. It comes with a fishman figure and a giant eel head on a rock/coral base. ( I included a D&D human miniature for scale) Th giant eel head opens and closes and it unscrews from the base for easy re-basing. Next up picked up a pack of Ben 10 figures for $1.40. Also pictured is a figure from a Temple Run game I paid 3 bucks for at the same store. I plan to make Demons and Shadow monsters from them. Finally I picked up a NECA Godzilla that was on sale for around 15 bucks to use as a Tarrasque for my current campaigns endgame. Pictured with a human fighter. Pictured with a Huge dragon:

A couple of Gashapon I found, 2€ each. A "space warrior" (that looks medieval to me) and a dragon. They are both building figurines, but the warrior is way better that the fat dragon. You can move the limbs to make some basic poses. Still the sculpt of the dragon is a good copy of a d&d black dragon. The main body of both figures is hard plastic, but the limbs are some sort of hard rubber, I hope the paint stiks well. If you are interested in these toys, they are from Dynit (well, made in china), the name of the series are "Space warriors" (but no info on their site) and " Dragons 3d" They also have some Creatures from the dark (horror)and Dinosaurs and more Dinosaurs

The dragon looks like it would make a great zombie or reanimated dragon. The space warrior looks like it would make a great boss encounter maybe as a god's avatar.

Not my best paintjob on this one but here how the Space Warrior turned on. Well, not bad for a 2€ toy. The head, the arms and the weapons are not glued, so I can change his pose. link

I found the exact same guys today, but in the end I did not buy them, I found them too slim.

Yes they are slim but I play in 1/72 scale. In this scales all minis are quite slim & they are big enough in comparison. So it's ok. I've also tryed to add some beard to make giants :

I spent las saturday at a local Toys R Us and I found some nice things. Mostly blind bags, let's see. Full gallery hereHere all the booty Now in detail: (the little venom figure is something I have laying around, it's in scale with usual d&d minis) The most interesting ones are from the Huntik line, same factory of the Winx. Sometimes even we Italians can make cartoons A couple of decent half dragons, I think they don't even need to be painted. And now the others, to tell the truth I already had the angel one. I need your suggestions, how I can color these ones (venom included) A monster from Virus Attack, it looks like some sort of aberration, but I don't know if it looks like a secific monster. A couple of Dinofroz, the cutest monster of the bunch, I think too cute for d&d The best for last, a couple of Skeleflex, they are HUGE, but if you want your BIG BAD DRACOLICH this is a good way. By the way, they are packed in a big fake bone, do you think I can craft something from it?

Great finds. Wish my local Toys R Us carried stuff like this. The skeleflex toys look amazing for making a Dracolich or living fossil with.
For paint ideas on the winged angel check out the various Devas, Angels and archons in D&D and Pathfinder artwork. You should be able to find some nice color combinations for it there.
For the horned fire creature I'd just paint it shades of red and orange and blend it into the fire as a fire elemental or devil/demon or paint it red then drybrush blacks over it to make it appear to be a lava elemental.
The Oni on the end is screaming to be turned into an Ogre Magi. Paint its skin blue and give its armor a samurai paint job and call it a day.
For venom you could paint over the spider emblem with black and color the eyes purple for a shadow demon or shadow creature.
